We’re starting to feel like we work for DC with all this great stuff we’re getting… but we’re not complaining.
So, going all the cool images from Aquaman and Shazam! coming out over the last few days, we have a beauty of an image for you all.
So, remember this:
That was Aquaman in the old Superfriends series, riding his seahorse. It was the butt of many a joke.
But director James Wan is setting out to change all that with his movie…
Here’s Aquaman’s underwater ride now:
Holeeeeeeeeeeey crap!
The sea dragons are ridden by the people of Xebel — one of the seven underwater kingdoms of Atlantis, their leader is King Nereus (Dolph Lundgren) and Mera (Amber Heard) is one of their warriors.
“The idea was to turn on its head the idea of Aquaman riding a seahorse, take something for which he was mocked and turn it into something terrifying and impressive,” says producer Peter Safran. “He’s a Xebellian creature but I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw Arthur (Jason Momoa) on one at some point…”
We wouldn’t be a bit surprised either… and to make him look even cooler on it?
Check this out:
Yup, he’s definitely going full comic book suit and we honestly love it! While we love the DC movies, it looks like this SDCC is where it all turns around.
That’s the 12inch Hot Toys figure by the way, we think it’s being revealed fully at SDCC this weekend.
The trailer hits on Saturday and we’re counting the minutes…
Directed by James Wan (“The Conjuring” films, “Furious 7”) and starring Jason Momoa in the title role, AQUAMAN also stars Amber Heard (“Justice League,” “Magic Mike XXL”) as Mera; Oscar nominee Willem Dafoe (“Platoon,” “Spider-Man 2”) as Vulko; Temuera Morrison (“Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones,” “Green Lantern”) as Tom Curry; Dolph Lundgren (“The Expendables” films) as Nereus; Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (upcoming “Baywatch,” Netflix’s “The Get Down”) as Black Manta; with Patrick Wilson (“The Conjuring” films, “Watchmen”) as Orm/Ocean Master; and Oscar winner Nicole Kidman (“The Hours,” “Lion”) as Atlanna.
