Zoe Saldana in talks for Guardians of the Galaxy movie

April 3rd, 2013 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

According to the Hollywood Reporter Zoe Saldana is in negotiations to play Gamora in Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy. Gamora, the green-skinned humanoid who is the last of a species that was exterminated by a race known as the Badoon. She also happens to be raised and trained by Thanos himself, and is known by the title of the most dangerous woman in the galaxy. If true Saldana will join Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord, and Dave Bautista’s Drax the Destroyer, in the space opera.

James Gunn is directing the movie, which is targeting a June production start date. Guardians is set to for a August 1, 2014, release date.

Saldana is a fan favorite and no stranger to Sci fi movies as well as blockbusters. She plays Uhura in the Star Trek franchise and Neytiri for Avatar one. I personally think it’s a brilliant move. She’s an important character as the lone female on the team an her link to Thanos may play a huge role. Saldana has proven she can act and kick ass. She held her own in the Losers and that was the same sort of dirty dozen group that the Guardians will be.

What do you think if she gets the role ? Do you have someone else in mind?
