After already confirming a second season of the Vixen animated series The CW may be set to add it to its list of live-action content and actress Megalyn Echikunwoke, who plays Vixen in the animated series, may also reprise that role for the live action take.

The CW president Mark Pedowitz stated back at the summer TCA press tour, that there would not be any more DC Comics adaptations for a while. However this stance seemed to change in the recent Winter TCA press tour. During the tour Pedowitz said: “Hopefully, [Vixen] could actually spin itself out, if not, maybe join as one of the Legends [of Tomorrow].”

It was acknowledged that the most likely scenario, at first, was for Vixen to appear in one of CW’s main shows, such as Arrow or The Flash. We don’t yet know what CW will consider when considering a live action show for Vixen, the animated series has been rather successful but that will be very different to a live action series.

It is likely audience reaction and viewing figures will play a major role. However, I don’t believe it will be a one off event to test her. The whole promotion of a new hero is bound to cause a surge in viewers; the real test is if that viewership stays on the second or third go.

We know we will be seeing her in Arrow soon and this will introduce her to the universe and make her known.

It may not do anything, it may even fall short, but with the success of the animated series it’s certainly a possibility.

The second season of Vixen is out later this year.
