Batwoman casts its Poison Ivy

August 31st, 2021 by Marc Comments

Despite rumours of shows ending and The CW’s run as THE DC TV property with Arrowverse seemingly coming to an end, they continue to expand their universe with more cool DC comics characters and Batman’s villain, Poison Ivy AKA Pamela Isley, is the latest.

Following on from Uma Thurman’s portrayal of the character in Batman & Robin and several actresses playing her in Gotham, The Last Ship and Jane the Virgin star Bridget Regan is the latest to play the famous arch-villain.

Ivy, in the comics, is an environmental activist with the power to manipulate and flat-out control plants, bending them to her will and making even the most humble houseplant into a potentially deadly weapon. She’s a formidable foe, indeed.

Her role will be a recurring one and her origins in the show being slightly different that the one(s) we know.

Poison Ivy, a.k.a Pamela Isley, is as former botany student of Gotham University described as a passionate, brilliant scientist with a mind for changing the world for the better. But her plans shifted when she was experimented on by a colleague, injected with various plant toxins which turned her into the infamous Batman villain Poison Ivy. With a formidable power coursing through her veins, Pamela used her powers to do what she thought was right, even if Batman and those closest to her disagreed with her dangerous methods. Now effectively wiped off the board for years, Batwoman and the Bat Team must prepare themselves for Poison Ivy to return with a vengeance.

She will appear in the upcoming Season 3 of Batwoman… can’t wait to see what they do with her.
