Constantine show could be coming to TV

September 27th, 2013 by Jake Tanner 2 Comments

The man behind Man of Steel and The Dark Knight series is at it again! No, not Christopher Nolan, David Goyer (who co-wrote both series) is now penning a new series centered around John Constantine for NBC.

Those unfamiliar with the character may remember the cinematic debut in Constantine, then portrayed by Keanu Reeves. He was first introduced in the Alan Moore Swamp Thing comic book run in 1985 and continues to con his way around the DCU today. He’s also been rumored to be featured in the upcoming Justice League Dark movie along side other characters like Swamp Thing, Deadman, and Zatanna.

I personally think Constantine is a character made for a TV show. The twist of supernatural happenings and mystery will make a terrific show to sit down and watch week to week!

I'm 25 years old and I'm hugely passionate about comic books and I also LOVE gaming. The birth of my daughter, Abby, rekindled my passion for comic book stories. I grew up on them and I want nothing more than to share that passion with her! I'm a pretty typical guy, I love sports. (NHL-Blackhawks, NBA-Lakers, MLB-Cubs, and NFL-Daaaa Bears!). I've been writing for a pretty big portion of my life, and I've been nominated for multiple awards for some of the poetry I’ve written! Happy reading and follow me on Twitter @xJatmanx.

The real question is how close to the comics (and classic or current for that matter) will they stay? Constantine should be English, should start off with some serious demon weirdness from the get-go, and should seem to be in over his head but still cocky for the most part. My betting is the show gets the cocky part right…

It’s a major network show so I hope that they do it justice. His story is PERFECT for a tv show IMO if they do it correctly
