Could Disney+ actually be doing a Solo spin-off series?

September 24th, 2019 by Geralt of Australia Comments

When Solo: A Star Wars Story was released there were mixed feelings about the new Han Solo; to replace Harrison Ford in anything is a big risk and at the start it seemed like it wasn’t going to pay off, with both domestic and international ticket sales falling far below what’s to be expected from the Star Wars legacy.

This being said, I loved it (me too – ed) ), and lately I’m not the only one either with a lot of people starting to ignore what the critics say and just enjoying it for what it was, a good story.

So with this in mind, it’s nice to hear that we may see more of that particular corner of the universe in a new show on Disney+.

According to Jeremy Conrad of StarWarsUnity who’s usually pretty on the ball with these things, there are rumors that a Solo spin-off series is in the works… without, em, Han

According to the reports, it looks like instead of continuing on with that characters we know and love like Solo, Chewie and Lando, instead it seems we may be getting a look at the rest of the scoundrels in the universe like Crimson Dawn.

Now even though we most likely won’t be seeing Han and the rest of the main gang, since we’re seeing Crimson Dawn, depending on when it’s set we may be seeing a bit more of Qi’ra (Emilia Clarke), and if I’m being 100 per cent honest, she was the let down in the movie for me, I mean don’t get me wrong, she was a fantastic Daenerys, but in a movie where almost all the main actors are basically unknown, they really should have thought about how she fits in around all these other actors because she draws the eye and is just a distraction for me, but I mean if that was their whole plan and what it was meant to be then good on ’em because it worked.

That being said, if they do decide to bring her in (now that Game of Thrones is over it’s not impossible) they can also bring in Darth Maul and we can see how the Sith operate, planting people into places like Crimson Dawn and using them to achieve their nefarious goals. This could also tie into what we reported on not too long ago (here) with the Darth Maul series, could that possibly be tied into this rather than being its own series?

With the Mandalorian being released on Disney+ in November, I’m sure we can expect a lot more news to come out in the future.

Stay tuned for more details and as always, stay nerdy.
