Matt Damon and Ben Affleck’s production company Pearl Street Film has partnered with Syfy and CBS Television Studios to develop the series, titled Incorporated and described as “a futuristic espionage thriller”.
Set in a world where corporations have apparently unlimited power, the story will focus on one man’s efforts to beat the system. It’s unknown at this stage if he just had to call Vodafone and get through to customer service.
David and Alex Pastor (Selfless, The Last Days) are writing the pilot. Ted Humphrey (The Good Wife) will serve as exec producer/showrunner, with Damon, Affleck and Jennifer Todd also executive producing. Pearl Street Film’s Margaret Chernin will act as associate producer.
Syfy has been trying to up its game in terms of original content of late. After the flat failure of 2007’s Flash Gordon series that didn’t have any spaceships in it, what was once The Sci-Fi Channel stuck to funding large amounts of schlock from The Asylum, such as the Battleships rip-off American Warships, and of course anything that involves sharks. The channel recently ordered the alien series Hunters from Gale Anne Hurd and is developing Ghost Brigades with Wolfgang Petersen and Scott Stuber. Its adaptation of Terry Gilliam’s 12 Monkeys premieres in January.
