The main women behind the revival of Doctor Who, former controller of BBC Drama Jane Tranter and producer Julie Gardener, have now formed a production group Bad Wolf (yes it’s a Dr Who reference). The women were fundamental in the revival of the 2005 series and have now set their sights on creating another supernatural TV series.

The series will be adaptations of Deborah Harkness’s ‘All Souls’ book series, the first of which is titled A Discovery of Witches. The series follows; “a young scholar at Oxford who discovers that she is a descendant of the witches burned in Salem in the 17th century and delves into the world of magic that’s in her blood.”

Ashley Pharoah will pen the majority of the series with Harkness also writing multiple episodes.

It’s unclear how long each series will be, or how close to the book they will be, but it is comforting to know that some of the minds behind Doctor Who will be behind this.
