Dexter may have ended -and what a damp squib that was, for shame Showtime – but the story of Miami PD may not be over yet…
Showtime President David Nevins, speaking at Paley Center last last week, said of the future of the franchise: “Arguably, Dexter is to Showtime what Spider-Man is to Sony or Batman is to Warner Bros., so I think it’s going to be important for us to keep it alive.
“We spend a lot of time talking about how we keep the show alive, so it may be a more complicated original idea than just a spinoff… I hope that whatever we do will feel both original and in keeping with what people expect out of Dexter.”
This news comes after recent news of Walking Dead and Breaking Bad spin-offs in the works. And the word we’re hearing is that a spin-off may focus on Masuka and his daughter… you Nerd it here first folks.
However, it’s not all about making money apparently. Mad Men – another favourite here at FTN – showrunner Matthew Weiner has said that with the end of the current season, the show is definitely done: “There’s no chance. No judgment against anybody else — but this is it. This is the story. When it’s done, it’s done.”
