With one of Marvel’s longest running shows Agents of SHIELD set to finish up after season 7, this leaves a big gap as to what could they possibly put here?
ABC Entertainment President Karey Burke has said: “I have spoken to Marvel and we are in active talks about one project in particular.”
And that particular project seems to be a female led superhero TV series to replace SHIELD after 2020.
So with the last few female projects tanking why will this one do any better? With Netflix’s Jessica Jones cancelled and Marvel’s Most Wanted being canceled before it even started, along with another female super show that got pitched at the start of the year and never made it past the front door, the odds aren’t looking good for whatever they plan to do now.
There’s no news as to who will be in this female-led show but characters such as She-Hulk, Moonstar and Misty Knight have been brought up, whether that’s to be the same Misty Knight as in the Netflix Marvel adaptions we just don’t know.
There is also no way of knowing which branch of Marvel they plan to go with, ABC having done shows for them in the past with Agents of SHIELD being one of them, however with Marvel Studios also doing their own TV series with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, WandaVision and many more it could be that they just get everyone to go through them now, but that’s something we shall have to wait and see.
