FIRST LOOK: Bebop and Rocksteady set for new TMNT series!

November 11th, 2014 by Marc Comments

At last! Bebop and Rocksteady are finally coming to the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series and they look simply awesome!

The figures (above) will be Walmart exclusives and will be landing in the next couple of weeks – so if anyone wants to grab a set for FTN it would be greatly appreciated (just sayin’) as we in the UK usually get screwed over with thee things.

The characters will debut in the third season of the show in January too.

Manuel Torres, Senior Vice President, Global Toys and Publishing, Nickelodeon said of the returning duo: “Fans old and new alike have been waiting for these two great villains to make their big return, and the time has finally come. Turtles is having such incredible success on TV, in toys and across movie theaters worldwide, and adding Bebop and Rocksteady to the mix will just ratchet up the energy even higher.”

IGN were given info on the alter-ego characters of Bebop and Rocksteady as they’ll first appear on the show, you know, before they mutate: “Anton Zeck (voiced by J.B. Smoove) and Ivan Staranko (Fred Tatasciore) are indeed Bebop and Rocksteady’s human counterparts. Here’s the lowdown on Bebop: “A half-human, half-warthog mutant, Bebop was once known as Anton Zeck, master thief. Zeck was mutated (along with Ivan Steranko) after getting on the wrong side of Shredder. With his bright purple mohawk and unlimited stealth tech, Bebop’s villainous thieving opportunities appear endless.

“Rocksteady: “A former Russian arms dealer, Ivan Steranko was a collector of rare weapons and armor until he angered Shredder. Doused with mutagen mixed with rhino DNA, Steranko soon became the incredibly strong and massive mutant known as Rocksteady.””

So there you have it… we know they were totally incompetent but we loved them as kids and we know if anyone will do them justice it’s this show…

We also managed to source this low quality image of them from the series itself (Thanks FTNer Johnny)

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
