Well, we finally have some news of the first official Star Wars: The High Republic TV series.
While we know that the upcoming Star Wars: The Acolyte is set one hundred years before The Phantom Menace, putting it just on the edge of The High Republic, it seems the first official entry in that timeline is one very much for the kids.
Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures was first revealed at Star Wars: Celebration back in May (here) and now we have learned that it will air not just on Disney+ but also on Disney Jnr and will star Abbott Elementary’s Jamaal Avery Jr and Luca voice actress Emma Berman
Avery Jr plays Kai Brightstar, described as an idealistic young Jedi who hopes that he can follow in Jedi Master Yoda’s footsteps – Yoda will feature in the series as can be seen in the new artwork above.
There are still dozens of Clone Wars episodes sitting in the Star Wars vaults
Berman plays Nash Durango, a pilot with aspirations to explore the galaxy. Together with a few allies, they will learn valuable lessons about what it truly means to be a good person in a sprawling galaxy filled with danger and adventure.
In the art above we’re guessing Kai is the Jedi in the centre while Nash is the female to the left of him with the red hair.
While the series is undoubtedly aimed at the very young, I’d be lying if I didn’t say I was likely going to check it out after all, given the sprawling nature of The High Republic, there’s little doubt, while likely not pivotal, this show’s story will be canon to what’s happening in that wider world universe.
Anyway, this isn’t the first Star Wars series aimed at young Kids with Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge with Ahmed Best being a big hit during lockdown.
Now, can we please just have Star Wars: Detours released, please, Disney? It’s right there! It’s ready to go! Come on!
The first full-length animated Star Wars series created for preschoolers, early grade schoolers, and their families, these original stories will follow Younglings as they are swept off into adventures, and start their journeys on the path to becoming Jedi Knights, learning valuable skills for our galaxy and the galaxy far, far away. The Jedi-in-training will tackle topics of compassion, self-discipline, teamwork, patience, and friendship.
The new series will be part of the era known as the High Republic, set centuries before the events of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace and currently being explored in the New York Times bestselling series of books and comics for all ages, Star Wars: The High Republic.
