Gates McFadden and Brent Spiner comment on Patrick Stewart’s new Star Trek series…

September 4th, 2018 by Marc Comments

We all know – and rejoiced –  that Jean Luc-Picard is making a big return to the Star Trek universe in the form of the great Patrick Stewart.

However, while we don’t know any details on the show yet, we’re all wondering… is the rest of the Star Trek: The Next Generation cast involved?

Well, it seems we may be as in the dark as the cast themselves.

It’s no secret that the cast of the series are still pretty close knit:

Awesome picture, amiright – it was shared by Deanna Troy herself, Marina Sirtis on her Twitter feed.

Anyway, as we were saying, it seems the cast is in the dark too, despite hanging out together.

Star Gates McFadden who played Beverly Crusher has been asked about the new series and had this to say: “We haven’t [heard anything], and I am sure Patrick will fill us in sometime. I have no idea if we are in it, or if it is just Patrick or what. We will all find out, but it is just so cool, though.”

As well as McFadden, Data himself, Brent Spiner, who jokingly impersonated Stewart as Picard and said: “I cannot do this show… without Brent Spiner!

“I haven’t heard anything about it other than that Patrick announced it in Vegas that he’s doing it,” he added.

“I think it’s fantastic. I can’t wait to see it. You know, he’s one of the best actors there is and perfect doing Captain Picard as one of his greatest characters and I’m as anxious as you are to see it.”

Honestly, we’d be very surprised if some of the original cast didn’t turn up in the series or, even more likely, have a role to play… but we’ll have to hold out.

What do you all think? Let us know…

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
