So, if you’re still in the ‘I hate Gotham’ camp then you’re clearly not up-to-date with the show.
Cameron Monaghan has been killing it as the Joker in Gotham for a few years now, quickly establishing himself as a very good Joker too (he’s most definitely on the Nicholson side of the Joker scale than the Leto side) but we will never hear the name Joker in the current season nor will we hear it in the final season either and Monaghan himself has revealed why on Twitter recently
Various hair tests. Pure green was off-limits to us (as well as the name “Joker”), a decision from high-up as they wanted to reserve these for films. A decision which ultimately I respect. They did not want to dilute the very lucrative brand. It allowed for creativity on our end. pic.twitter.com/pSlacSUTjU

Warner Brothers has tightened up on the Arrowverse’s use of certain characters that have appeared or are to appear in DCEU movies, the biggest of which was the removal of Manu Bennett’s phenomenal portrayal of Deathstroke from Arrow so that Joe Manganiello can portray Deathstroke in Justice League’s mid-credit scenes, but while they have been happy to let Tyler Hoechlin be an infinitely superior Superman than Henry “The Mustache” Cavill in Supergirl and Grant Gustin be the definitive Barry Allen while Erza Miller tries his hardest in the movies.
Weird, huh?
