Another Guillermo Del Toro TV series? Where do we sign?

It looks like Pacific Rim’s witer Travis Beacham’s script, A Killing on Carnival Row, is set to be, not the movie it was written as, but a TV series on Amazon which will be produced by FTN favourite Del Toro, who will also co-write the pilot episode and possibly direct the opener too.

It will also be produced by Gary Unger; the two produce The Strain as well.

“The story takes place in a city named the Burgue, which exists in the future, but is a bit like 18th century London. Humans live side-by-side with other creatures, and a killer stalks the streets of a neighborhood called Carnival Row inhabited by faeries working in brothels. The murderer is killing faeries, cutting off their wings and leaving telltale puncture wounds in their necks.”

So, it certainly feels like something Del Toro would be all over; the script was originally written in 2011 for him to direct but time and the other 500 movies* he’s attacted to got in the way.

Word is Del Toro is very excited to make the movie into an ongoing series. We certainly are excited to see what becomes of it.
