After it was revealed at Star Wars Celebration Japan at the weekend that Hayden Christensen would be returning as Anakin Skywalker in Ahsoka season 2, the fandom rejoiced and it seems the star himself would love to see Anakin/Vader become more down the line than just a co-star in the Disney+ shows.
We all know how Anakin become Vader in the story after being defeated by Obi-Wan Kenobi and we all know how he had revenge in A New Hope by finally defeating Kenobi and even though we’ve had glimpses of him in shows like Rebels and Obi-Wan Kenobi as well as various comics, there’s a lot of Vader’s story that could still be told on screen and Christensen is hoping that someday these might might just get made.
“There’s a lot that we could still explore with Vader,” he says in a new interview, “I think from where we left off, after Episode III, and everything that he has to reconcile after he’s trapped in this new version of himself, there’s just a lot of very rich stories that we could still tell.”
I reckon a Darth Vader series where he’s hunting down remaining Jedi after Order 66 could be a lot of fun and, if done right, could go on for a few seasons, after all, we’ve learned that Order 66 saw a lot of Jedi slip away, so he’d have his work cut out and, just like in James Luceno’s superb Dark Lord novel, it could be a great way to really get a feel for Anakin/Vader and where their mind is and how his self-loathing only feeds the Sith he’s becoming.
“I love the character, and I’d love to get to continue with it,” Christensen added, “and so hopefully we’ll get to do more of it.”
Yeah, we hope so too, Hayden, we really do.
Thoughts? I wanna hear them all, guys!
