HBO Max bringing Green Lantern to the small screen?

September 1st, 2019 by Marc Comments

An interesting Green Lantern rumour has surfaced.

HBO Max, the upcoming streaming service, will be the home of The CW’s DC shows – at least digitally – and it looks like their showrunner, Greg Berlanti, who has been hired to produce shows for Max too.

And one of those shows may be… Green Lantern Corps featuring Kyle Rayner.

So why wouldn’t Berlanti be bringing GL to The CW? After all, the Corp has been set up in the Arrowverse with John Diggle. But the reason is simply, well, money. The CW wouldn’t be able to do the show justice as it would need a massive amount of money that Max would just be in a better position to put up.

The rumour comes from Lords of the Long Box who seem to have contacts at Warners and beyond and were the ones to first confirm developments with She-Hulk, Moon Knight and Ms Marvel, so it does look like they know what they are talking about.

But why Kyle Renner and not Hal Jordan or any of the other Lanterns? Well, remember the rumours about JJ Abrams making a Green Lantern movie (here)? Well, it seems Hal Jordan is being kept for there.

So, if this is all true, then we’ll have plenty of Green Lantern content in the next few years.

Thoughts on this news, folks?
