We can’t confirm this but we’re hearing this is the character designs for Black Canary and Arrow from the CW’s Arrow series as they will appear in the six-part animated Vixen series which we reported on a few months go (here).

It is believed that Canary and Arrow will be voiced by Katie Cassidy and Stephen Amell, the actors who portray in Arrow and The Flash

What we know so far:

Marc Guggenheim, Executive Producer of Arrow, and also lead on Vixen, noted how Vixen will be a “six part origin story”, and how talked about just how connected it is to the other series:

It’s a six-part origin story, but characters from “Flash” and “Arrow” are prominently involved. It’s in the continuity and the world. There’s actually a question I’ve been getting on Twitter a lot, “Is Oliver going to find out that Felicity kissed Barry?” That’s actually going to happen in the “Vixen” cartoon. Part of the fun is that close cohesion.”

Guggenheim also notes how the use of animation will allow them to do things they can’t necessarily do in live-action:

“One of the things we can do in animation is really push the envelope in a way that we can’t on either of the two shows. So there’s a much larger production value. We’re taking advantage of the animated form. That’s the other reason to do it.”

And of course, should this animated series be a hit…could we get a live-action Vixen series?

“We always say “never say never,” and if the character resonates with people, that would be wonderful. I would love to be in a position where CW said to us, “Hey, we want a ‘Vixen’ live-action show.” That’d be wonderful.”

Vixen is an upcoming animated web series that will premiere on CW Seed in fall 2015. It will be set in the same universe as both Arrow and The Flash.[1] The series will span six parts, as a sort of origin story for Vixen. Vixen is set to make a live-action appearance on Arrow/The Flash and both will make an animated appearance on Vixen.

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer.
