James Robinson’s Starman, is considered to be one of the greatest comic books of all time. The tale of Jack Knight, reluctantly taking up his Father’s mantle of Starman has influenced many comic book writers throughout the years.

One of these people was Geoff Johns, writer of Green Lantern, The Flash and Justice League.  Johns worked closely with Robinson, during the closing issues of Starman and created a sidekick for the character.

Johns seems to be taking his enthusiasm for the property and building a TV show around it… though not quite how you would expect.

According to Bleeding Cool, DC Comics, in collaboration with Machinima and Blue Ribbon Content, are building an Apprentice-esque show, where eight contestants present their ideas to develop Starman into a film. They will pitch these ideas to Geoff Johns himself (in the Donald Trump role) and a panel of celebrity judges.

This seems like a very strange way to get a property like this onto the big screen. It seems like a massive venture that could very easily backfire. However, with all of this being said, I would be lying if I said I wouldn’t watch this.
