Get ready for the new daily show

Jeremy Renner says Hawkeye series is finished filming… but he will be back

Well, that’s another Disney+ series in the can, as Hawkeye star Jeremy Renner has taken to the social medias to say the Hawkeye series has finished filming.

The series stars Renner as Clint Barton while new MCU starHailee Steinfeld will play the new Hawkeye, Kate Bishop.

Renner has been a mainstay in the MCU since his first cameo in Thor in 2011 and is a regular in the big event movies in the franchise, while never having his own title… until now.

On Instagram, Renner said:  “Bravo to everyone @marvel @disneyplus, our entire crew, stunt team @heidimoneymaker and amazing cast for all the hard work out into this show!!!

We can’t wait to share it. Thank you all for the incredible journey… #hawkeye🏹.”

He later wrote: “Last day, for now… This is not goodbye, but a see you soon.”

This may be a nod to speculation that, with Bishop becoming Hawkeye, Renner’s time being a superhero is done… seems it’s not. And that’s fine with us – welcome in the new but keep the old, that’s what we say.

This would seem to support what MCU producer Trinh Tran said about the show a while back, saying it’s not about replacing Hawkeye, but having a focus on two different takes on the same name: “They’re both Hawkeyes in a way, right?

“I’m always interested in introducing new characters. And now we have a fascinating young female who is very interested in this role. So you’re going to see a balance of both.”

That’s cool. Plus, we’re also big fans of Steinfeld, so it’s a win-win, really.

Hawkeye will also star Vera Farmiga as Eleanor Bishop, Fra Fee as The Clown, Tony Dalton as Swordsman, Alaqua Cox as Echo, Zahn McClarnon as William Lopez and Florence Pugh reprising her Black Widow role of Yelena Belova.

No word on when it’ll hit Disney+ but we’ll keep you posted.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
