Licensing Expo 2025 wraps today in Las Vegas, writes our good friend Jason over at Ghostbusters News, and among the properties highlighted by Sony Pictures Consumer Products (SPCP) was Ghostbusters.

The upcoming animated series, developed by Sony Pictures Animation in collaboration with Ghost Corps, Inc. and Netflix, was highlighted alongside other major franchises, including Jumanji, The Boys, and Karate Kid.

Described as a “fresh story” aimed at fans of all ages, the Ghostbusters animated series is part of Sony’s growing focus on imaginative storytelling through animation, being developed alongside other projects like the Hotel Transylvania spin-off, Motel Transylvania.

Jamie Stevens, EVP of Worldwide Consumer Products at Sony Pictures Entertainment, spoke on the company’s direction, stating: “We’re doubling down on this dynamic medium with new projects like an animated Ghostbusters series… We’re excited to introduce fans of all ages and interests to these fresh stories and the unforgettable experiences they are sure to deliver.”

Per Variety, and in line with that push, Sony Pictures Animation recently promoted Damien de Froberville to co-president alongside Kristine Belson. Together, they oversee the studio’s upcoming animation slate, including Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, GOAT, Kpop: Demon Hunters, and the new Ghostbusters series. Additionally, a separate Ghostbusters animated film is currently in development.

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
