You all may recall that a few weeks ago it seemed that Arrow confirmed that Bruce Wayne exists in The CW’s TV universe and, probably, Batman too (here).
Well, it looks like there could be even more in the Arrowverse than we thought.
Firstly, on the Bruce Wayne mention, Arrow himself, Stephen Amell said: “So I was at the DC Comics party at Comic Con — Geoff [Johns] and I were supposed to meet and chat quickly. I couldn’t track him down, but the next thing I knew, I ended up in a four-way conversation with Peter Roth, Diane Nelson, and Kevin Tsujihara all at the same time.
“I was like, ‘Guys! I have an idea. I think it would be fun, I think it would open the door to a lot of possibilities’. I had this holy trinity of Warner Bros. Television and DC and Warner Bros. overall in front of me, and I pitched this idea, and I’ve got all my follow-up points, and Kevin Tsujihara just goes, ‘Yeah, sure.’ It’s like, ‘Really?’ and he said, ‘Yeah, that sounds fun. Do that.’ So we did it, and I didn’t actually believe that it would make it until I actually saw it in the locked cut.”
Makes us wonder if maybe there’s more… and it seems like there is.
HERE BE SPOILERS ABOUT LAST NIGHT’S CROSSOVER:
Could Superman exist in the world of Arrow?
In the crossover, Green Arrow, The Flash, and Supergirl come face to face with their Earth-X counterparts – evil versions of Kara Danvers and Oliver Queen. To stop Kara, Arrow attacked her with a Kryptonite arrow which does the trick.
When Supergirl asks why he has Kryponite, Arrow tells here: “In case an evil you ever showed up!”
Firstly, this reminds us of the Batman stories Hush and Tower of Babel in which Batman has emergency plans that can overthrow all the other members of The Justice League including Superman.
But the big question is how did Arrow get Kryptonite and does that mean there’s a Superman on his world too?
And if so, does he look Supergirl’s version of Superman, Tyler Hoechlin (above)?
Remember Superman and Batman were both referenced in early previews for Legends of Tomorrow:
On top of all this, sharp-eared fans will have heard a sly nod to another major DC character in the Supergirl episode of last night’s event: Lobo.
In the episode, Supergirl fights an alien that she fear could be a Czarnian… and comic fans will know that Lobo is ‘The Last Czarnian’ because, well, he pretty much destroyed his whole race.
It was a fun little nod we thought and just adds to the vast nature of The CW’s universe.
Now, if only Danny Trejo could have played Lobo like we hoped before (here).
