Well, they aren’t exactly The Avengers, but they certainly look badass!

Check out the first images from Marvel and Netflix’s The Defenders, which will see Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist join forces against Sigourney Weaver’s so far unnamed villain… don’t they look the part? Yes they do.

The images come from the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly and aim to get everyone excited for the superhero team-up which will hit Netflix this summer.

The magazine details the first meeting of the team which will see them all investigating the same case and meeting in a corridor full of henchmen who they will have to fight against alongside each other before being formally introduced… we are stoked for that scene!

We also got our first look at Sigourney Weaver as the series’ villain: “She’s an “utter badass,” showrunner Marco Ramirez says of the character, who is the perfect fit for the Sigourney Weaver, of Alien and Avatar fame. “Sigourney is the kind of person you can buy as the smartest person in the room, who you can also buy as a person holding a flamethrower. Her character is a very powerful force in New York City. She’s everything Sigourney is: sophisticated, intellectual, dangerous.” He pauses. “I’m sorry. I can only say a bunch of adjectives right now.”

You will notice in the images we also see more Misty Knight, Luke Cage in prison, a good look at Iron Fist’s tattoo and some rather awesome single hero images.

Let us know if you’re loving these as much as we are, guys…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
