Ricky Gervais has shared a first look at his new series, Alley Cats, which hits Netflix later this summer.
Best known for hit shows The Office and Life is Short, Gervais, left, is an award-winning comedian and writer and, as you can see above, this new series is animated, not a first for Gervais, who also starred in the animated series The Ricky Gervais Show along with Stephen Merchant and Karl Pilkington.
Alley Cats is a sitcom about “a group of feral British cats from all walks of society, who seek companionship while ruminating on everyday life,” and Gervais plays Gus, who the star describes as a “fat, lazy, rude, opinionated creature with fangs, who’s not as smart or brave as he thinks he is.”

Alley Cats is a sitcom created by and starring the multi-award-winning Ricky Gervais.
The adult animation follows the trials and tribulations of a group of feral British cats from all walks of society, who seek companionship while ruminating on everyday life.
From the funny to the absurd, the series is packed with Gervais’ signature style of heart and social commentary that audiences have come to expect.
Along with Gervais, the show also features frequent collaborators of his, Diane Morgan (Cunk on Earth, After Life) as Olive, David Earl (Brian and Charles, Derek) as Puke, Jo Hartley (After Life, This Is England) as Kitten,
Tom Basden (After Life, Plebs) as Ponce, Andrew Brooke (After Life, Children of Men) as Fang along with smaller appearances by Kerry Godliman (After Life), Natalie Cassidy (EastEnders) and Tony Way (After Life, Edge of Tomorrow).
The star shared the first look, above, on social media, sharing: “My new series Alley Cats comes to Netflix on 7 August. I’ve never been so excited/worried about any show since The Office. There’s nothing like it. And as with all my work, some people will hate it & some will fucking love it. But how can I make sure everyone watches it? Help!”
Don’t worry, Ricky, I’m positive this series will do just fine. I know I will definitely be tuning in.
Thoughts? I know you have them, and I wanna hear ’em all.
The cats arrive on August 7th.
