Rugrats

Easily one of the most iconic kids shows of the 90’s was Rugrats on Nickelodeon. In some ways, it was the epitomy of what classic cartoons were. A fun concept, good stories, and characters you can’t help but love. Funnily enough, fans wanted to see these kids group up so much that they made a sequel series about just that, them being teenagers, or close to that. But fans still weren’t content, they wanted to see the Rugrats as adults. Well, wish granted.

And not just by some random fan, but by one of the storyboard artists from the original series, Eric Molinsky. Now you may look a the pic below and think “Why do they look like that?” To which Molinsky had these very poetic words to say:

“It really bugs me — not the quality of the artwork, but the interpretation. We referred to them as lumpy babies for a reason. If we ever drew the Rugrats as being too cute, our executive producer would scold us.

The Rugrats did not all grow up to be fashion models or self-confident hipsters. Especially not Chuckie. They probably grew up to be average if not slightly lumpy looking people — just like their parents.”

Do you think he’s right? Check out the pic below and let us know!
