While all of the attention at the moment is focused upon Marvel’s Cinematic Universe, and Phase 3 in particular, Marvel’s television department is prepping its own Phase 2.
For those who are unaware, Phase 1 of Marvel’s Netflix TV series include, Daredevil, A.K.A. Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. All of these series will culminate in 2017 with the release of The Defenders, a show that will crossover all four characters.
From what little information can be gathered from Phase 2, it appears that The Defenders will still be a part of it. According to rumours, Marvel is toying with the concept of introducing The Punisher, Blade and Ghost Rider in their own series.
There’s even talk of a Hulk series, apparently.
Rumour has it though, that there is some hesitation in introducing these characters, particularly Blade and Ghost Rider. This is due to the supernatural elements that are essential to these characters. It seems that they may test the waters for these characters through appearances in other shows, much like how Firestorm has done in The Flash
With all of this being said, this is still just speculation, but with the runaway success of Daredevil, it wouldn’t surprise me if we see some of these characters coming to the small screen in the near future.
