A Doctor Who costume designer has revealed some spoilery detals about John Hurt’s character in the upcoming 50th anniversary special, describing him as a “dark Doctor”. The legendary actor made his onscreen debut in May at the end of Series 7’s finale, The Name of The Doctor.
Discussing Hurt’s character, soon-to-be-fired costume designer Howard Burden explained: “There was a gap between Paul McGann playing the Doctor and Christopher Eccleston, when we didn’t see a regeneration, and John Hurt will fit into that gap. He is a past Doctor, not a future Doctor.”
So Hurt, it seems, will be Doctor 8.5. Are we happy with a middle regeneration between McGann and Eccleston? You all know where to voice your opinions on this one…
