During Star Wars Celebration this past weekend, fans were sad to hear that an Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2 is not on the cards, but star Ewan McGregor still seems optimistic,
Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy spoke about the return of everyone’s favourite Jedi Knight but the news was less than exciting: “That is not an active development,” she said.
“But I never say never, because there’s always the possibility. That show was so well-received and [director] Deborah Chow did such a spectacular job. Ewan McGregor really wants to do another. Everybody’s all hands on deck with what we’re doing right now, as you can see by what we showed everybody [at the Celebration]. We’ll turn our attention to that again maybe down the road.”

Now, I’m probably being a little hard on Kennedy here as her answer definitely seemed to hint at the possibility that a second season might happen down the line but now, during the events of Celebration, McGregor made it clear he wants that second season to happen: “it just was the right time to come back and do it again,” the star said speaking about season one, “There’s something that’s opened up in my heart again… I have to say, it feels really good.”

Then he goes on, much to the fans’ delight, to say: “Hopefully, someone might think we should do some more…”.
Back in January, McGregor said of working on the first series: “I was so happy to do it again, and so happy to work with Hayden again, and I hope we get the chance to do it again.”
