While season one of Obi-Wan Kenobi divided fans (doesn’t everything these days? Sigh), I for one loved it and have been hoping we would hear news of a second season at this year’s Star Wars Celebration Europe but so far… nothing.
Well, not quite nothing.
In a new interview at the event, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy spoke about the return of everyone’s favourite Jedi Knight played by Ewan McGregor.
“That is not an active development,” she said, “But I never say never, because there’s always the possibility. That show was so well-received and [director] Deborah Chow did such a spectacular job. Ewan McGregor really wants to do another. Everybody’s all hands on deck with what we’re doing right now, as you can see by what we showed everybody [at the Celebration]. We’ll turn our attention to that again maybe down the road.”
Boooooooo!
Although, the fact that she says everyone is too busy does make sense as there is so much Star Wars content coming in the next few years from movies, to animated shows to live-action TV, the galaxy is growing exponentially – but someday we might see Kenobi back.
The first season wonderfully set-up Kenobi training with Liam Neeson’s Qui-Gonn Jin Force Ghost to learn the secret of returning from the dead which was first hinted at by Yoda at the end of Revenge of the Sith and even those who didn’t like the series seemed to be keen on seeing a series with McGregor and Neeson back together.
It’ll happen, I believe it will.
Now… what’s happening with Book of Boba Fett season 2? Anyone? Hello?
