Could the ultimate sci-fi crossover – Doctor Who meets Star Trek - be about to happen at some point in the future?

Steven Moffat, showrunner on Doctor Who since 2010, has said he would do it “in a heartbeat” – though he has some conditions.

For one, he wouldn’t be satisfied by a crossover with the new Star Trek series being developed by CBS for launch in 2017.

“If it crossed over with Star Trek, it would have to be real Star Trek,” Moffat said.

“It would have to be Captain Kirk and Mr Spock. It has to be the Doctor meets Mr Spock – that’s the one you want.

“I mean, would I do it? Yes, in a heartbeat. I think you might find the Americans a little bit trickier to deal with!”

What say you, Paramount? Is there room for a Time Lord and his TARDIS on the Starship Enterprise?

Doctor Who continues on BBC One this coming Saturday.
