Superman and Lois given early renewal for Season 2 by The CW after stellar start to series

March 9th, 2021 by Marc Comments

Following on from the success of the first episode (yes, we loved it too here), The CW has given an early renewal to Superman and Lois.

It’s the first show in the Arrowverse to be confirmed for the 2021/2022 season and that’s pretty impressive… let’s hope it can maintain its level of excellence well into the future.

Mark Pedowitz, Chairman and CEO, The CW Network said: “The phenomenal multiplatform debut of Superman & Lois, which delivered for us in a big way on both a linear and streaming basis, is a testament to the creativity, hard work and dedication of the talented people who worked tirelessly in front of and behind the camera, especially in this challenging environment.”

The show’s first episode gave the The CW its single best night of primetime in two years and the show delivered the largest day-one streaming audience for a new series in the history of the network… are there legs in the Arrowverse yet?

However, there is a slight snag in this story as, due to that damned virus, filming on the show had been stalled and as a result, after it’s fifth episode on March 23rd, the series will go on hiatus until May – during this time the final season of Supergirl, left, will take over its timeslot until it returns later this summer at which point Supergirl will be moved to a new slot to wrap up. Let’s hope Supergirl’s declining ratings don’t damage Superman and Lois’s strong beginnings.

Superman & Lois stars Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tullock who return as the titular characters. They will, in turn, be joined by Emmanuelle Chriqui as Clark’s ex-girlfriend, Lana Lang, Erik Valdez as Lana’s husband, Kyle Cushing. Dylan Walsh will portray Lois’ father, General Sam Lane. Jordan Elsass and Alexander Garfin also co-star in the series as Superman and Lois’ sons, Jonathan and Jordan Kent.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
