It looks like The CW has found its Batwoman.
There’s not much else known at the minute but it has been confirmed that Australian model Ruby Rose has nabbed the role.
The character will appear in the big crossoever this December and then will get a pilot episode shortly after with hope being she will get her own series joining Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow and Black Lightning.
CW president Mark Pedowitz said this about Batwoman coming to The CW: “We’ll do a pilot for mid-season, whether it goes to series, I cannot tell you. We have five (DC shows) on the air and just added a sixth night.”
The CW had reportedly wanted a gay actress to play the gay Kate Kane in the Arrowverse and have found her in Rose. The actress is best known for her role in Orange Is the New Black, Pitch Perfect 3 and John Wick: Chapter 2.
Batwoman revolves around Kate Kane, who, armed with a passion for social justice and flair for speaking her mind, soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence. But don’t call her a hero yet: in a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope.
The Vampire Diaries’ Caroline Dries is writing and exec producing the series
