The Walking Dead TV show producers talk Negan

September 10th, 2014 by Marc Comments

Negan is one of the meanest characters to grace the pages of the Walking Dead comic. And those pages are already full of nasty folk – you think the TV Governor was bad? Read the comics.

Well, many fans have been wondering when we’ll see Negan in the TV show and now, reports Cinema Blend, executive producer David Alpert spoke with The AMC, to work out plans for the show’s future and Negan, it seems, was part of this: “It’s more like things in the comic that I can’t wait to get to. I cannot wait until we introduce Negan. He is just like the coolest f#@king character on the planet. You thought the Governor was bad news?”

Negan, the leader of the group called The Saviours, is one of the toughest and cruellest characters that Rick and the gang face and his actions will be felt forever in the comics. However, the comic’s creator Robert Kirkman is saying that Negan will probably not appear for some time, if ever: “At the pace that we’re going, we’re talking about somewhere like Season 12. We certainly don’t think that far ahead about what’s going to be on the TV show.”

Cinema Blend do point out that while Kirkman runs the comics he has little say over the direction of the series as that lies in the hands of Scott Gimple is, so it’s unclear what the deal is with Negan’s appearance… but we’re confident that we will see him at some point.

Be afraid, be very afraid.

The Walking Dead also stars Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Chandler Riggs, Melissa McBride, Emily Kinney, Danai Gurira, and Chad Coleman, and returns to AMC on October 12th.

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
