Many an Arrow fan will be forever scarred by the Season 1 finale of the show, not just because of the huge impact it left upon the show, but because of the death of fan-favorite character Tommy Merlyn. Thanks to some clever storytelling, Tommy has returned via a hallucination (Season 2, “Three Ghosts”), and a Flashback (Season 3, “Sara”), but according to Eonline and Marc Guggenheim, Tommy’s coming back one more time. But maybe not in the way we expect…
“We love Colin Donnell and we love having him on the show,” explained Guggenheim. “I was on set for his scene at the end of season one and the second we wrapped him, I said to him, ‘I’m so glad we do flashbacks on this show!’ So yes, you have not seen the last of Tommy Merlyn.”
He then added, “the next time you see Tommy Merlyn, you will see him again on the show but it won’t be the way you’re expecting.”
That statement alone is very tricky, as fans can think of a number of ways for him to return. The most likely, and most speculated given the current storyline of the season, is that Tommy might (emphasis on MIGHT) be put into a Lazarus Pit via Ra’s Al Ghul. To what end though?
Anyway, we aren’t sure when Tommy will appear again, but if we do we’ll let you know!
