Vixen

The CW’s animated web series featuring African-born superhero Vixen just got renewed for another season.

But that’s not the big news. The producers have decided that the character deserves a role in the main DC TV Universe, and she’s heading for the fifteenth episode of Arrow’s fourth season. Voice actress Megalyn Echikunwoke is reprising her role, and going on this Tweet by Stephen Amell, she’s already getting well and truly immersed in the role:

For the uninitiated, Vixen wears a totem that has the power to draw upon the Earth’s morphogenetic field and give her the abilities of any animal that ever lived. Born in Africa and later based out of New York, she uses the totem’s power to fight crime.

I’m now becoming intrigued as to how many more characters from the extended Justice League are going to show up in Flash, Arrow and even Supergirl. Since there’s around eighty years of continuity to draw from, there’s plenty of choice. But so long as they’re doing it well, keep ’em coming. Anyone for Green Lantern versus Solomon Grundy?

Dave was born at an early age to parents of both sexes. He has been a self-confessed geek for as long as he can remember, having been raised through the 80s on a steady diet of Doctor Who, Star Trek, Red Dwarf and (sigh) Knight Rider. Throw the usual assortment of Saturday morning cartoons into the mix and we have something quite exceptional: someone with an encyclopaedic knowledge of utter tosh; a love of giant robots and spaceships fighting; and the strange desire to leap tall buildings in a single bound while wearing his underpants over his trousers. The death ray is currently in the works and one day you shall all bow to him, his giant space station and fleet of funky orange space shuttles...
