TV REVIEWS: FTN Reviews Black Lightning Season 2 Episode 10: Angelitos Negros

January 22nd, 2019 by Todd Black Comments

Of all the DCTV shows, Black Lightning was honestly the one that didn’t end on a really big cliffhanger per se. Jennifer and Kalil were on the run, and that was about it. “Angelitos Negros” was not just the return of the series, but also the resolution of this now 3-episode arc.

Despite basically retreading on ground from the previous episode, this one had a lot of little personal moments that really shined. Like Lynn trying to appeal to the two in order to get them to come home. Kalil coming clean and apologizing to the Pierces for all he had done. Jennifer denying herself the chance to sleep with Kalil because she knew it wasn’t the right thing to do, it was fun.

And yeah, you knew that Kalil had to go and get caught, and I’m not sure I buy how Cutter could take down a literal army of feds, but hey, she’s a meta, and I guess she’s even more powerful than we suspected. The real twist was when Tobias literally ripped the metal spine out of Kalil as a message to those who would oppose him. That was frightening stuff.

Just as frightening was how quickly Todd adapted to his new life as a criminal. It felt a little too quick, and now, he’s the “evil hacker” for Tobias, and apparently, the ASA were up to even more no good than we thought. It was good to see what was inside the briefcase, and it being a supercomputer of secrets made a lot of sense. How far it all goes though remains to be scene.

In the end, “Angelitos Negros” was a nice capper to the arc, and set up a nice little arc coming up. Jennifer is going to want Tobias’ head on a platter for this, and she just might get it!
