TV REVIEWS: FTN Reviews Black Lightning Season 2 Episode 14: Original Sin

March 5th, 2019 by Todd Black Comments

I kid you not, I was thinking about Black Lightning Season 1 today, and I asked myself, “what was the weakest part of the season?” And I said, “The Lala Storyline”. Little did I know that Lala would return tonight for “Original Sin”, and I’m now more confused than ever before.

To clarify, Lala as a character had potential, especially after his initial resurrection. But then it turned out that he was just a stooge for Tobias, who killed him when it was appropriate. And now, he’s back, wants answers (or to “untie the knot”) and he’s more crazy than ever thanks to his “tattoo victims” attack one another. Seriously, this is weird even for a superhero show. Sure, now he has a path towards “redemption” in trying to kill Tobias, but we all know that won’t happen. So what’s the point of all this?

Meanwhile, Lynn had trouble with her boss being basically inhuman towards one of the pod kids. And now we find out he’s watching the Pierce’s intently (likely because he suspects who they are). Jennifer is more worried about her suit looking good than her safety (though it was funny seeing her trying to be stylish). And Anissa tried to find Grace, and instead found a fight she wasn’t expecting.

Oh, and we got confirmation that Todd Green is dead, which as I noted last time was really dumb, as he was a good character.

It was all so very confusing, and where it led to I’m not really sure. Hopefully with things settling down now it’ll get back to the quality that I know it can be.
