TV REVIEWS: FTN Reviews Legends Of Tomorrow Season 5 Episode 12: Freaks and Geeks

May 13th, 2020 by Todd Black Comments

Just to be clear, my college was nothing like that, but when it comes to “Freaks And Geeks”, the Legends got to meet the version of college that many people saw and participated in during their own times. And while not the best episode of Legends, it did have its high points.

For example, we all knew the Legends had to figure out a way to get the Loom of Fate to work, and that apparently meant being like gods. Which lead them to the Chalice of Dionysis, the Greek God of the Party…more or less. And what better place to party…than in college?

The problem? They had to be a sorority in order to win a challenge to get the cup, and that would take the ladies of Legends to new heights…and a few lows, but whatever. The real key to this sorority challenge was showing Astra that you don’t have to betray yourself in order to be a part of something bigger than yourself. Her raising in the underworld made her look out for No.1, which meant that she didn’t believe in a team, let alone the Legends. Seeing her and Charlie slowly figure out how to be friends (or something close to it) was nice, even though a certain Fate had to ruin it at the end.

The other real story here was Rory and Leah trying to bond once again. Rory working on trying to impress his kid again backfired, but in a good way this time. To the extent where they’re honestly closer than they were before. Hopefully this continues.

Also, Sara winning at beer pong despite being blind? Awesome.

In the end, “Freaks and Geeks” was a bit more of a standard episode of Legends of Tomorrow than usual. But hey, even the Legends need to have a slow day. Which brings to next weeks episode, zombies! Because why not?
