TV REVIEWS: FTN Reviews Legends of Tomorrow Season 5 Episode 9: Zari, Not Zari

April 22nd, 2020 by Todd Black Comments

Sadly…”Zari, Not Zari” didn’t give us a TRUE Supernatural/DC Comics crossover like we wanted…but I’ll take what I can get because this episode was as close to perfect as you can get in spite of that…so I’m going to give it a perfect score.

Right off the bat, the show emphasized exactly why The Fates were a threat to be feared, as Charlie’s old band that we met in her origin episode were wiped out in gruesome fashion. This led to a big chase for the second part of the loom, and it led us to…the set of Supernatural? Seriously, I know that this episode was made well before virus lockdown we got, but it was all too hilarious when Sarah saw the dead crew and said, “Then who’s filming season 15?” Because the answer is…no one currently! The horror…

Anyway, Charlie struggling to deal with her past and her sisters was good stuff, and Sara helping her via her own troubled pass was also well done.

Meanwhile, Ava tried to help Mick with his daughter problem, and came up with a good plan…that showed why she’s still got a lot to learn about people. A for effort…D for execution. But I won’t deny that montage was cut, including the kid being mini-Snart for Halloween.

As for Zari, she finally got to learn the truth about her “past life” and we even got to see our one true Zari (sorry, not sorry) again!!! Give credit to the actress for being able to pull off both versions of her flawlessly. And then for her to wake up after meeting herself and finding Behrad dead? Yeah, that was heavy.

As for why Sara was able to resist the Fate’s true form? I bet it would have to do either with the Destiny totem she once held, or that she is a Paragon, we’ll see. But we still have one Fate left to go, and we need that loom now more than ever!

“Zari, Not Zari” was another great example of the Legends of Tomorrow shining bright and letting the stories play out beautifully.
