WATCH: Finally a trailer arrives for the Stargirl series

December 12th, 2019 by Marc Comments

The first trailer for DC Universe’s Stargirl series is here and it’s, em, from The CW.

So we learned a while back that the series, created by DC Comics’ Geoff Johns, would be airing on both DC Universe and The CW.

And it looks pretty good and it’s quite clear that the budget is above the standard CW budget not just in the effects but in the cast which includes Brec Bassinger as Courtney Whitmore  AKA Stargirl, her mum played by Amy Smart and stepdad, Pat Dugan played by Luke Wilson.

Not only that but it seems her new stepdad was once Stripesy, the sidekick to the one and only Starman played by community’s Joel McHale. It seems McHale will be appearing in flashbacks as he was killed and was also part of the Justice Society of America. But, wouldn’t you know it, it seems that Courtney is destined to become Stargirl after she was chosen by the Cosmic Staff; look, it’s comic books, ok?

This lends fuel to the rumours that the Crisis on Infinite Earths event currently going on in The CW’s Arrowverse are aiming on knitting all the DC shows together including the upcoming HBO Max shows; but I’ll have more on that in a future article.

For now, check out the Stargirl trailer and expect it to join the Arrowverse next year.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
