So, unless you were living under a rock you’d know that there was a bit of an uproar when actress Anna Diop was cast as Starfire in DC Universe series Titans.

Why? Well, yes, there was kick back because she’s black – which is nonsense – but also, and perhaps even moreso, because of here outfit (above). And when all promo material featured her in the same outfit, many feared – surprise, many were vocal about it online – that this was her look and not her traditional comic look:

And, to be fair, there is a big difference in her appearance and, given that all the other characters look pretty faithful, it was a little odd.

However, as we suspected, she will get the proper outfit eventually.

Titans series star Anna Diop has finally revealed that Starfire will certainly get a comic accurate costume later in the series.

Speaking at NY Comic Con, Anna Diop was asked if she does get the proper outfit and she yes, eventually: “As soon as I put it on, everyone was flipping out!

“It’s awesome because it’s something that so many people have seen for so long and it means so much to people and this is the first time we’re bringing it to life, but you know — our story takes its time. It takes its time, it’s an origin story, so it takes its time in the characters coming to this place where you see them and the way that everyone’s always known. I hope that the audience can be patient with us and have fun with us. It’s a ride, and it’s a fun one.”

The reception to the characters overall was a mixed bag with Raven and Robin looking great, but Starfire and Beast Boy not so much:

But we’re also hearing that Beast Boy will also get his full green skin by the first season’s end.

Producer by Geoff Johns said: “[Titans] was an opportunity do less of a conventional procedural show and more of a 12-hour movie.

“We could focus in more on character and push the envelope, in terms of content.”

We Also got a cool new clip from the show:

Titans will premiere on October 12, with a new episode each week.
