Get ready for the new daily show

Here’s the videogames we’re excited for in 2020

January 27th, 2020 by Geralt of Australia Comments

Hey guys, Geralt of Australia here back from surviving the fires of hell down here in Australia to bring you a look at the best games coming out this year, ‘cos with a new decade it’s sure to bring some great stuff to look forward to, so let’s jump right in.

First off we’ll take a look at a couple on the Nintendo Switch, such as Animal Crossing : New Horizons.

It’s been such a long time since Nook has graced us with something new and this time he’s really delivering the good. New Horizons gives us something a little different this time, instead of building your house and decorating it the way you want, this time you have the whole island to play with basically doing whatever you want to your own little stretch of paradise.

Along with an online multiplayer to have all your friends come and visit your little island getaway there’s also no longer a need for bridges as your character has their own pole to vault over the streams and rivers. Still curious if the maps and characters will be randomly generated like always or if you’ll get to create your own for once. Either way with it being released on March 20th, aka international happiness day you cant go wrong.

Another for the Switch is SkateBird, which by the way is exactly what it sounds like, a little bird on a skateboard.

Imagine the old Tony Hawks games but instead of being a pro skater, you’re a little chicken. I can’t wait to get my hands on this game and test it out to bring you guys all the details when it’s released some time late this year.

The only other mention I really have for the Switch is one that I really hope comes out this year cos the fans have been waiting more than long enough and that’s Metroid 4. We haven’t had a decent Metroid game since Prime back on the Gamecube, the rest have just been little ones that have come out on the handheld consoles like the DS, either way I really hope that this comes out this year.

Moving off Nintendo now we go to one that I know everyone’s looking forward to and that’s Cyberpunk 2077.

Developed by CD Project Red, the same people who created The Witcher 3 have created something unlike any other game that we’ve seen so far. This open world first person mammoth of a game features full customisation for your character being able to change things like your face, hairstyles, body type, modifications and clothing, something that’s been strongly lacking in a lot of games and has primarily only been seen in games by Bethesda. In this you play as the character V who searches the metropolis corrupt on power and glory in search of a mod that when installed will give him the power of immortality. Cyberpunk 2077 will be released April 16th.

Next comes the remake that I’ve been waiting so long for, and that’s Final Fantasy 7.

This remake brings us a whole new view of the game with a complete overhaul of the graphics, better quality soundtrack and on top of all of it an invigorated combat system. Rather than the turn based combat system that we all grew up with and love, this time it shall be taking the FF15 approach with buttons for the moves and real battle movement with the analog sticks. Final Fantasy 7 part 1 will be released March 20th.

Next up is CrossfireX,  an FPS that pits two different military factions between each other.

Global Risk employs veterans of of powerful armed forces using advanced technology to maintain order and security, they will go up against Black List who employs hardened mercs trained in guerrilla tactics in order to destabilise oppressive regime’s in the name of freedom. You’ll pick your side and go through a various plethora of different game modes with stunning visuals and strong gameplay. I’m normally not one of first person shooters but this is one that I will get behind. CrossfireX is to be released some time this year.

Last but not least comes someone who needs no introduction, it’s everyone’s favorite little alien Abe in his new adventure Oddworld : Soulstorm.

This will be a retelling of the 1998 classic Oddworld : Abe’s Exoddus. This particular series has been going on for over two decades now and I’m sure you can only imagine the hype of the game that groomed so many of us into the gamer’s that we are today. The new version has an almost 3D aspect to it which will give it a much different feel to the original but will give you all the nostalgia you’re looking for. With a different and longer story to the original Exoddus that was quite the rushed job, I’m looking forward to seeing what will be done now that they’ve been working on it for the last three years. Oddworld : Soulstorm will release some point this year.

With so many good games due to be released this year it has rather hard to narrow it down to just a few so here we have a few others to watch out for that we just didn’t have the time to go into, I hope you’re looking forward to playing these games as much as I am, until then stay nerdy folks.

Other honorable mentions include Nioh 2, March 13th, Lego Star Wars : Skywalker Saga, date TBA, The Outerworlds for Nintendo Switch, date TBA and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Quarantine, date TBA.

Did we get them all? Did we miss any? Let us know what has your little gamer heart racing this year…

Geralt of Australia, holder of the One Ring of Sauron, mechanic to the Millennium Falcon and council to the Avengers, has been diagnosed as a nerd since falling through the wardrobe and being crowned king in Narnia. While fighting Boggarts and watching Storm Troopers miss everything, he has made his way back into this world through the portal in 221B Baker Street just to bring you all the news and reviews of the games of this world.
