Resident Evil is unquestionably one of the biggest franchises in the industry and is clearly the biggest name in horror in the world of video games. With this in mind, many were quite happy to learn that Resident Evil 4, 5 and 6 will be making their way to next generation consoles, in the form of ports.

I have to admit, I am very much mixed on this news. Resident Evil 4 is a classic, and there is no question in this, but my relationship with 5 and 6 is very different.

I mentioned that Resident Evil is unquestionably one of the biggest names in the horror game genre. However, with every entry in the series, it seems that Capcom seems to forget this. With each new game, they seem to turn further and further into action games, and forget they are meant to scare audiences, not try and rip off Gears of War.

Still, I am eagerly awaiting the release of Resident Evil 4 and I am looking forward to have a chance to revisit it. Here’s hoping Capcom can do justice to this classic with its upcoming release.
