It looks like the Spider-man: Into the Spider-verse family just grew a little with Jessica Drew AKA Spider-woman being cast in the movie.
Insecure star (that’s a show, not a comment) Issa Rae has been cast as the heroine in the Into the Spider-verse sequel, joining Shameik Moore’s Miles Morales and Hailee Steinfeld’s returning Spider-Gwen and newcomer (well, he was in the post-credits scene in the first movie) Oscar Isaac as Spider-man 2099 (here).
Phil Lord and Chris Miller are back on writing duties along with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ David Callaham. Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers and Justin K Thompson will be directing.
Given that it looks like Olivia Wilde is developing a live-action Spider-woman movie at Sony (here), this could be a good way to introduce her to a bigger audience.
If this movie is anywhere near as good as the first one, this will be well worth the visit to the cinema!
Let me know your thoughts on the casting and if you’re a fan of the first movie.
Into the Spider-verse 2 is due to hit cinemas on October 7th, 2022
