For as long as I can remember, even today as a collector of action figures, I’ve wanted an action figure of myself. Maybe a bit taller and thinner. And without the thinning hair at the back. But I’ve always wanted a figure.
And, being who I am, it was always a Ghostbusters or Star Wars figure I wanted, to stand alongside the hordes of figures I have collected over the years.
And then, back in May, leaked images and news of a series of figures from Hasbro revealed that pretty soon, I might be able to have my dream come true and finally have me, as a Ghostbuster or Stormtrooper, on my toy shelf – more details here.
And, at SDCC we learned that the figures, called the Hasbro Selfie Range will be available soon.
As someone who lives in the UK, you can imagine my heartbreak when it was revealed it would only be in the USA. Hopefully that is a temporary thing. But, for now, here’s the rest of the details.
The figures will be ordered through an app and a variety of skin colour, hairstyles and hair colours are available, so no matter who you are, you’ll be able to get yourself on that shelf.
And not just as a Star Wars or Ghostbusters figure, as Power Rangers and GI Joe are there too – check out the full lineup of figures above.
Brian Chapman, Head of Global Design and Development at Hasbro, said: “It wasn’t until recently that two technologies came into play at once.
“One is a very simple way to scan someone’s face and head, and then a very affordable way to print that head in a one-off way. And when those two things collided, we said, ‘Hey, I think the time is now to launch Hasbro’s Selfie Series.’”
The fact that they’re only available in the US is, as I said already, a big blow for fans and collectors elsewhere on this big, blue marble, but I’m hoping that, if this proves successful, it won’t be too long before we see it available all over the world.

Would you like a figure of yourself on your shelf? Let me know, guys…
