It looks like the Jennifer’s Body sequel is now officially in the works, according to World of Reel.
Fans of the 2009 supernatural teen horror comedy starring Megan Fox as the titular Jennifer and Amanda Seyfried as her put-upon best friend, Anita, will know that creator Diablo Cody has been trying to get a sequel off the ground for a few years.
In 2024, she said: “I would love to bring Megan and Amanda back – that would be ideal.

“I want to go back to that world so badly that I’ve thought of various permutations that we could do. Like we could do a prequel; we could do a sequel; we could do a musical. I’m like ‘Anything anyone wants to do, I’m down. I just need to find the right partner.”
Well, now she’s getting her wish – not for a musical, I don’t think anyway – but to bring back Jennifer and Anita to see what happens next, as it seems that both Fox and Seyfried, along with director Karyn Kusama, are coming back to the world of succubus and even worse teens.
A new listing, above, on Production Weekly lists Jennifer’s Body 2 as starting to film this October in Vancouver.
The first movie, which I must admit I only watched recently, saw Fox at the height of her stardom playing a troubled teen who is sacrificed by a devil-worshipping rock band led by Adam Brody’s lead singer, but the sacrifice goes wrong and instead of her dying, she comes back as a succubus who must feed on teenage boys to stay alive and its left up to her best friend Anita to stop her. It’s a lot of fun and it would be interesting to see where these characters are now.
It’s worth noting that Cody has previously confirmed that 2024’s horror/comedy Lisa Frankenstein, starring Kathryn Newton, is set in the same world as Jennifer’s Body, so this will be the third movie in that universe. Are we getting a Diablo Cody horrorverse? Only time will tell.
