Well, the Stranger Things train just keeps on rolling, doesn’t it?
First came the books news (here), then came the Tell Tale Game news and now… Dark Horse are bringing us a comic series and it’s going to fill a big missing chapter of the story so far: what happened Will when he was in the Upside Down?
Coming in September, Dark Horse President Mike Richardson had this to say: “Dark Horse is known for championing stories and storytellers. We are so excited to work with Netflix to bring the world of Stranger Things to comics.”
Check out a preview below, along with covers by Aleksi Briclot, Rafael Albuquerque, and Kyle Lambert.
The statement said it would be a multi-year deal (presumably a series each season?) and will explore the mystery of Hawkins, Indiana. It went on:
The first series in the line, launching this fall, will explore the adventures of Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) after he was transported to the horrific extra-dimensional Upside Down at the beginning of season 1. Viewers only saw Will reappear in that season’s finale when he was finally found by his mother Joyce (Winona Ryder), but obviously a lot happened in the interim. This four-issue Stranger Things miniseries — written by Jody Houser, illustrated by Stefano Martino, inked by Keith Champagne, colored by Lauren Affe, and lettered by Nate Piekos — will finally give fans a look at what happened to Will in the Upside Down.
Stranger Things #1 hits comic shops Sep. 26.
