21 Jump Street 2 is set for 2014

April 18th, 2013 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

Sony Pictures held their presentation at CinemaCon and after showing off a reel of all their 2013 films, they also listed confirmed titles for 2014 with 21 Jump Street 2 among the titles.

21 Jump Street was not just one of the most critically-acclaimed comedies of 2012, but a hit at the box office as well. Made with a budget of $42 million, the film was able to rake in $100 million at the US box office, and a further $200 million worldwide. Given this success and end of the movie, hinting that undercover cops played by Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill would be going to college, a sequel was basically a foregone conclusion. But now we have the official word.

There is no official release date yet. Both Tatum and Hill are confirmed to be back. Directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller are currently busy working on The Lego Movie though, so it’s possible that may not be able to return to for the sequel.

What do you think? Should they do a sequel or leave it alone?
