JJ Abrams looking to fill military officer role for Star Wars: Episode VII

November 26th, 2013 by Marc Comments

J.J. Abrams is looking to fill the role of a military officer in his 40s similar to that of Matt Damon in Neill Blomkamp’s Elysium for Star Wars: Episode VII.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the requirement follows the recent open casting call announced earlier this month.

Abrams, meanwhile, has been talking to Total Film about his work so far in a galaxy far, far away and more specificially what it’s like to collaborate with screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan.

“Working with Larry has been one of the most surreal joys of my life,” he said. “We’ve had a lot of fun working together. He’s an incredible guy and an inspiring and spectacular writer.”

Star Wars: Episode VII opens in 2D and 3D theaters on December 18, 2015.

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
