With us all waiting patiently for the return of Daredevil next week, it looks like we finally have a release dated for the third series in Netflix’s Defenders series.
Luke Cage himself, Michael Colter, has confirmed his standalone series (after being introduced in Jessica Jones last year) will be on Netflix on Sept. 30th, this year..
Colter made the announcement from the red carpet of last night’s premiere of Daredevil Season 2: “It’s going to be action packed from the beginning to the very end. Trust me. Daredevil premieres March 18, and I will see the fans on September 30th.”
In related news, head of Marvel TV, Jeph Loeb, has revealed that Marvel’s TV output may be on the verge of getting much bigger. Also at the Daredevil Season 2 Premiere, Loeb said: “It never stops. We have, in one way or the other, there’s nine or ten shows that are going. They’re going on in my brain. The idea is, much like when I was doing television and writing comics at the same time, it’s about telling stories, and making sure we are telling the best stories that we can.”
However, he’s quick to add that he has a great team to make it possible: “I’m not there alone, I’ve got people like Joe Quesada, Dan Buckley, and Alan Fine at Marvel, incredible showrunners, incredible writers, Jim Chory, who’s my head of production and can make all of these things happen. It’s having a team around you to be able to do exactly what you’re saying, which is not just live here, but live ten months in the future and know what we’re doing not just now but a year from now.”
So what’s the nine or ten? Well, Agents of SHIELD season four, Daredevil season three (?), Luke Cage, Jessica Jones season two, Iron Fist, Marvel’s Most Wanted and The Defenders make seven.
There’s also the John Ridly project and we could still see Punisher getting his own show. Oh, and Agent Carter may still be back. That’s as close as we can guess… for now, anyway.
Oh and we’re hearing rumours that Scarlet Johansson may appear in the MCU TV universe… and appear in Daredevil. This is all speculation at the minute but give the two’s history in the comics we could definitely see it happening.

Meanwhile, Simmons discovers a powerful chemical compound that could alter the future for Inhumans.
